Phyllis Miller has been the head coach of Brownsburg Varsity Girls Golf for 10 years. Previously, she coached at various other schools for 15 years before finding her home at Brownsburg.
Every year that Phyllis has been the Brownsburg head coach, her teams have made it to Regionals and she has coached five individuals all the way to State. She is hoping this year will be no different despite an inexperienced team. Her goal for the year is to take the young group she has and let them “get experience, mentally prepare and build confidence in HCC, as well as advance in the post-season.”
Phyllis recently reached her 800th win as a coach at Brownsburg. She has coached 4 Academic All-State players and 11 golfers who have gone on to play in college at IUPUI, Anderson, Valparaiso and Evansville to name a few. In high school, she played golf at Jennings County where she made it to State all 4 years and was All-Conference for 3 years.
When she isn’t coaching golf, Phyllis likes to spend time with her family and her 1-year-old beagle puppy, Chipper. She also enjoys hiking and the outdoors and can’t seem to get away from golf even in her free time. Golfing runs in the family, after all, as her father is a former golf pro. This season has already held many successful moments and there is no doubt that Coach Miller will continue to coach her team to victory for the rest of this year and years to come.
